Cryolipolysis is a revolutionary, non-surgical alternative to traditional liposuction. It is a procedure which targets fat cells (adipocytes) to crystallize and die through a sophisticated super cooling system. Once these fat cells are destroyed, they are eliminated naturally by the body. Fat freezing works by using a special applicator tool which simultaneously suctions (like a vacuum) and freezes the fat cells in the target areas. In clinical studies, cryolipolysis was shown to reduce subcutaneous fat at the treatment site by up to 25% after one treatment.

Cryolipolysis is most commonly performed in common areas of excess fat such as the abdomen, love handles, upper arms, flanks, and inner and outer thighs.

Helpful Information

Am I a Good Candidate for Fat Freezing?

The best candidates for Cryolipolysis are typically those within their ideal weight range and are in good overall health but simply are not happy with their appearance in certain areas. Cryolipolysis is perfect for those who want to treat stubborn areas of fat, and are willing to maintain their results with a healthy, active lifestyle. This is a great alternative to liposuction, as there is no downtime or invasive techniques being used. Patients can resume their daily activities immediately after their treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

Many patients are satisfied after just one session, however the number of treatment cycles needed depends on the treatment area. While good results at the flanks can usually be achieved with only one treatment, the back and the inner and outer thighs often require more than two treatments. A treatment plan will be discussed upon consultation that will best meet your treatment specific needs.

How is Cryolipolysis different from other methods?

The great thing about Cryolipolysis a.k.a Fat Freezing is that it freezes the fat cells without burning destroying or damaging any surrounding tissues. The fat freezing process only kills the fat cells underneath the skin, literally by freezing them so that they can undergo a natural cell death. Your healthy skin cells and tissues do not get harmed in any way. No knives, no suction hoses, no needles, no scars. Once the fat cells are frozen, they get crystallized and are naturally excreted from your body.

Are there any side effects?

Cryolipolysis has been proven to be a very safe method for body contouring, and is accomplished with only minimal discomfort. Expected side effects are temporary erythema, bruising, and transient numbness that usually resolve within 14 days after treatment.

What does Cryolipolysis feel like?

The treatment areas are marked and covered with a gel pad to protect the skin. No anesthesia or pain medications are required. The area being targeted for treatment is then gently drawn (using a special vacuum applicator) between two cooling pads. Most patients report feeling a cold sensation, which gradually goes away as the area becomes numb. The applicators are left in place for about an hour. In that time, most patients bring a book to read, use their phones, or just relax and enjoy their time to themselves.
